Connect your AI assistant to Cluby

Cluby's MCP server lets an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT answer questions about your venues, members, benefits, events and loyalty cards using live data from your Partner Hub account, and create and edit benefits and birthday gifts for you.

Reads data, edits benefits and birthday gifts 15 tools OAuth 2.1

1. Server address

Paste this address wherever your assistant asks for an MCP server URL:

https://api.cluby.com/v2/mcp
Protocol
Model Context Protocol (MCP)
Transport
Streamable HTTP, stateless, with JSON responses. The server answers POST requests only; there is no SSE stream and no session to keep alive.

2. Signing in

The server uses OAuth 2.1. When you add it, your assistant opens a Cluby page where you sign in with your normal Partner Hub account and confirm access. You never paste a password or key into the assistant.

Technical details
  • Authorization code flow with PKCE (S256). Public clients only; no client secrets.
  • Clients identify themselves with Dynamic Client Registration (RFC 7591) or a Client ID Metadata Document. Both are accepted; nothing needs to be pre-registered with Cluby.
  • Discovery follows RFC 9728 (protected resource metadata) and RFC 8414 (authorization server metadata). An unauthenticated request receives a 401 with a WWW-Authenticate challenge that points to them.
  • One scope: write. Access tokens are valid for 90 days. There are no refresh tokens; after expiry the assistant asks you to sign in again.

Alternative: API key

Scripts and tools that cannot open a browser can send a Cluby API key as a bearer token instead. Create one under Profile → API keys in the Partner Hub. An API key grants the same access as a sign-in, so treat it like a password.

3. Set up in your assistant

Claude

Add the connector on claude.ai or in the Claude desktop app; it is then available in the Claude mobile apps too. Every plan can do this, including Free, which allows one custom connector.

  1. In Claude, open Customize → Connectors. In some versions it is under Settings → Connectors.
  2. If Cluby is listed in the connector directory, choose Connect. Otherwise choose Add custom connector, enter a name and the server address from above, and choose Add.
  3. A Cluby page opens: sign in if asked, then choose Allow.
  4. Back in Claude, start a new chat and make sure Cluby is switched on in the tools menu. Then ask a question, for example: “How many members joined last month?”

ChatGPT

In ChatGPT, adding a custom MCP server is a developer feature on ChatGPT web. It is available on Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces once an admin has switched on developer mode; on other plans availability varies. If Cluby is listed in the ChatGPT app directory, install it from there instead of following these steps.

  1. Turn on developer mode under Settings → Apps → Advanced settings. In a workspace, an admin first has to allow it under Workspace settings → Permissions & roles.
  2. Open Settings → Apps and choose Create. Enter a name, a short description and the server address from above as the MCP server URL. Keep authentication on OAuth.
  3. Choose Create. A Cluby page opens: sign in if asked, then choose Allow. In a workspace, only an admin or owner can publish the app for other members.
  4. In a new chat, choose Cluby from the apps or tools menu and ask your question.

Menu names change from time to time. If you cannot find these options, search your assistant's help for “MCP connector”.

For developers and other MCP clients

Any client that supports Streamable HTTP and OAuth can connect. Each snippet below starts the same browser sign-in the first time the client talks to the server.

Claude Code

Run in a terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http cluby https://api.cluby.com/v2/mcp

Cursor

Add to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "cluby": {
      "url": "https://api.cluby.com/v2/mcp"
    }
  }
}

VS Code

Add to .vscode/mcp.json:

{
  "servers": {
    "cluby": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://api.cluby.com/v2/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Codex

Add to ~/.codex/config.toml:

[mcp_servers.cluby]
url = "https://api.cluby.com/v2/mcp"

To use an API key instead of OAuth, add an Authorization: Bearer header with the key to the client's configuration.

4. What the assistant can do

Most tools only read, and return the same figures you see in the Partner Hub. The last five make changes, the same ones you could make yourself in the Partner Hub: importing an image, creating and editing a benefit, and creating and editing a birthday gift.

ToolWhat it doesData it reads or changes
list_orgsLists the organizations you can access. The starting point for every other tool.Organization and venue names and IDs
list_venuesLists the venues of an organization.Venue name, handle, city and address, member count, hidden and verified status
list_benefitsLists member benefits, optionally with activation counts for a date range.Benefit definitions and activation statistics
list_eventsLists events with their ticket types, upcoming or past, optionally with sales figures.Event details, ticket types, public links and sales statistics
list_stamp_cardsLists stamp cards with per-card statistics.Card definitions, members who started a card, stamps given, rewards earned and redeemed
list_birthday_giftsLists birthday gifts, optionally with how many have been sent to members and how many they have redeemed, in total and over the last 30 days.Birthday gift definitions, the venues they apply to, and gifts sent and redeemed
list_status_cardsLists membership (status) cards.Card tiers, pricing and linked benefits
member_statsCounts current members by venue and membership card, with a 90-day timeline.Aggregate member counts only, no individual members
org_activityShows recent member activity: benefit activations, joins, purchases, stamps and event check-ins.Activity type, time, venue, item, amount paid and an anonymous member identifier
dashboard_summaryThe headline numbers from the Partner Hub dashboard, with 30-day trends.Benefit activations, event entrances, push messages, returning members, page visitors and stamp totals
import_imageImports a photo from a web address so it can be used as a benefit image.The image at the address given; it is stored with your organization's images
create_benefitCreates a benefit in one or more venues, the same as the Partner Hub's benefit form. Members see it straight away unless it is created hidden or starts later. For a partner product it can also request the free marketing materials.Benefit text, image, availability and the membership cards it is limited to; for a materials request, a shipping contact
update_benefitEdits a benefit: its text, image, availability or which members see it. It can also hide the benefit and show it again.Only the benefit fields being changed
create_birthday_giftCreates a birthday gift for one or more venues, the same as the Partner Hub's birthday gift form. Members receive it around their birthday unless it is created hidden.Gift name, description, image, greeting message, how long it is valid and how many days before the birthday it is sent
update_birthday_giftEdits a birthday gift: its text, image, greeting, timing or venues. It can also hide the gift and show it again.Only the birthday gift fields being changed

5. Access and permissions

  • The connection acts as you. It can see and do exactly what your Partner Hub account can, and nothing else. It cannot be widened beyond your own access.
  • Its only changes are creating and editing benefits and birthday gifts and importing images for them, and only in venues where you are an admin or owner. It cannot delete anything, send push messages or touch payouts.
  • Access cannot currently be narrowed to a single organization or venue. Each tool call names one organization, but the connection itself covers everything your account covers.
  • Each team member connects with their own account, so their assistant sees only what their own role allows.
  • Connections expire automatically after 90 days.

Removing access

Every connection appears under Profile → API keys in the Partner Hub, named after the app that requested it. Revoke it there and the assistant loses access immediately. Removing the connector inside the assistant does not revoke it on Cluby's side, so do both.

Open Profile → API keys

6. Your data

What is shared with the assistant

Only what a tool returns for a question: organization and venue names, aggregate statistics, and the definitions of your benefits, events and cards. Recent activity entries carry an anonymous member identifier, never a name, email address or phone number.

Once a result reaches the assistant, it is handled under that provider's terms: Anthropic for Claude, OpenAI for ChatGPT. Check the provider's data settings if you need results kept out of model training.

What Cluby keeps

Cluby does not store your conversations or the questions the assistant asks. Each request is processed and answered on the spot. We keep the same request logs as for any other Partner Hub use, and for each connection its name, creation date, expiry and last-used time. Benefits, birthday gifts and images the assistant creates or changes are saved like any you make in the Partner Hub.
